9 Weeks Left and Counting

Aloha friends! Sorry I haven't been updating the blog these past few weeks - in between packing and getting ready for a trip and then actually being on a trip I've been kind of busy. But, I got in a few interesting experiences while I was gone, so hooray for blog fodder!

1) I got the distinct privilege of flying on an airplane while pregnant. Alone.

*gasp* Carina, where was your stalwart husband???????????? Well, he was working and part of the reason for this trip was for me to spend time with the older batch of siblings while they looked at colleges in Utah and Idaho. So no, he didn't get to come with me (but I'm never flying or going on a trip by myself ever AGAIN after this).

Also, Carina, don't you hate flying? Yes. I hate it so much. And flying while pregnant wasn't exactly the pinnacle of fun either. I got patted down both times I went through security (and before you protest, saying but a pregnant woman surely wouldn't be threatening to an airline! let me point out that a pregnant woman is basically the PERFECT unsuspecting-nonthreatening person. Too perfect.). That wasn't too bad. I try to be nice to TSA people and other airline/airport workers. They're just doing their job and I've watched so many people be mean to them.

Anyway, I just don't like flying because I'm also worried that I'll be late and miss my flight and then I'll be STRANDED in the airport and never ever able to get HOME. This is no matter how early I get there, or how prepared I am. And, historically, my family should be GRATEFUL for this, because I remember one flight when they changed the gate we were flying from after all of us had settled down, but I was paying attention to the accouncements!! and we had to run with all our stuff down to the right gate and board the plane very quickly and I SAVED us and I also never want to go through that amount of stress again. I can never feel okay until I have completely boarded the plane.

The actual flying part wasn't bad. I just listened to Hamilton and colored in my coloring book and ate snacks and tried to nap. And it was only a four-hour flight, so bathroom breaks were minimal. #pregnantlyfe

2) I missed my husband terribly while I was gone for a week.

There's nothing really exciting about this, just that I missed him and I love him very much and I would like to never go away for a long period of time and miss him.

3) The third trimester is very tiring and I'm full of fatigue all the time, and this is only exacerbated when I'm walking up and down a mountain for a college tour. Also, for some reason last week everything decided to get 10 degrees hotter, and I'm pregnant, so it's like 20 degrees hotter for me and I've discovered I don't do well when I get really hot! Just irritated and grouchy. And this will only get worse as the temperatures go up and I get more pregnant! Hooray!

4) I finally finished my baby registry (I'm so sorry to everyone who's been asking who's had to deal with me putting it off). If you'd like to take a look at it, you can do so here:

If you don't want to look at it, that's fine too! As I've tried to enlist my husband's help in making some decisions, I've discovered not everyone takes the same joy in baby things as I do.

I hope all of you have an excellent day today, and I'll see you next week!
